When should I review my life insurance policy?
Once the options have been discussed with a Life Insurance agent and the appropriate Life Insurance policy has been selected, one must remember a few important factors:
First, and the most obvious, is remaining consistent on paying the life insurance premiums on a timely manner.
Second, one should remember to periodically review the life insurance policy to make sure the policy is up to date. If any changes have occurred in one’s life, such as marital status, children, then a life insurance policy may need to be changed. Marriage, divorce, birth, and death are causes for reviewing a life insurance policy; one may want to include one’s spouse a beneficiary; if a beneficiary passes away, then another beneficiary needs to be named in the life insurance policy. Additionally, the birth of children may warrant increasing one’s current coverage and change how the monies are paid out.
Lastly, one may want to consider reviewing a life insurance policy when a child or children have reached adulthood. If they are able adults, then it might not be so important to have them covered because they may not need your financial assistance as much.
